Asia Cup Hockey 2017, India vs Pakistan: Chinglensana, Ramandeep, Harmanpreet score as India beat Pakistan 3-1

India wins the match and knocks Pakistan out of the tournament. With both teams having already qualified for the World Cup, this result should help China

India beat Pakistan 3-1 in the Asia Cup Pool A clash. India locked horns with Pakistan in an Asia Cup tie in Dhaka. After winning their first two games, India was walking into the match with the noses in front. Pakistan has won one out of two, the pressure was on the green unit to fire. The first quarter was even-steven with no team scoring. India managed to have the bulk of the possession, but could not convert. Pakistan too spilt a golden opportunity at the penalty corner. Early in the second quarter, Chinglensana Singh finally opened the Indian account by providing them with the lead. The second quarter had moments, Pakistan got their chances, Rizwan created opportunities for Pakistan. Suraj Karkara was making some amazing saves at the end of the quarter and that helped India hold on to the lead.

At the start of the third quarter, the exchanges, stick tackles started increasing as Pakistan was looking desperate and Pakistan were indisciplined and were penalised with a yellow card to Muhd. Rizwan. Suraj Karkara made a splendid save to keep India’s lead intact. Suraj has been the star.

Aakashdeep came closest to scoring but misses as the Pakistani goalkeeper does well to cut his angle and make the save. Pakistan missed a 16-yard hit with a penalty corner. India looked to be taking their time and waiting for their opportunity. Ramandeep finally scored to give India a 2-0 lead. Soon after Harmanpreet scored to make it 3-0. Double strike in the dying stages gave India a stronghold in the encounter.

Finally, Pakistan made it to the scoresheet in the fourth quarter when Ali Shan scored.

Pakistan made a lot of entries into the circle but the final touch seemed to be eluding them. India looked comfortable holding the game and slowing it down.
