Mithali Raj Trolls Jhulan Goswami For Her On-Field Actions From Boundary — Watch

Mithali Raj reveals that she does not enjoy playing T20I cricket despite being the highest run-scorer for India, can you believe it?

There’s always chatter on the field as fielders try to lift everyone’s spirits but Indian skipper Mithali Raj is not one who likes to talk all the time. In interview (Breakfast with Champions), Mithali revealed that Jhulan Goswami is the one who picks everyone up when chips are down. However, she trolled Jhulan for it as well. Even when the tall fast bowler is fielding on the boundary, she will shout ‘Come-on’ which at times cracks up a few fielders including Mithali.

The 35-year-old also said that she enjoys batting much with the tailenders rather than opening or middle order batters. The tailenders keep on asking her “Didi yaar, aise daal rahi hai ball hi nahi dikh rahi hai” among other things. The highest ODI scorer finds it funny. However, she helps the tailenders to bat and tackle the situations.

Here’s the video of the interview:

On being asked what role she would like to pick for herself after retiring, Mithali said that she wants to mentor young women cricketers. She explained the reason behind it. She wants to help the players who are not from towns and help them cope with the attention and how to balance themselves.

It might be surprising to many but Mithali said that she does not enjoy playing T20Is. Had Indian women cricket team playing Test cricket regularly, she would not have played T20I cricket. It is to be noted that she is the highest run scorer in T20Is (men or women), even ahead of Virat Kohli.

She has played just 10 Tests in her 19-year-long international career. She is the only Indian to score a double century, the youngest women international cricketer to score a double century. The importance of the double century can be understood by the fact that there have been just 7 double centuries in the history of women Test cricket and Mithali’s score is second-highest.
