IPL 2018: Comedy Of Errors As Mohammed Siraj Survives Run Out Despite Falling On The Pitch — Watch

IPL 2018, CSK vs RCB, Match 35: Mohammed Siraj had a tough day on the field as he scored just 3 runs from 7 balls and gave 18 runs from 2 overs

It was a horrendous outing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsmen barring wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel and Tim Southee. They managed to put only 127 runs on the scoreboard in the first innings after losing 8 wickets. Patel’s half-century and Southee’s sensible cameo at the end saved RCB from an even lower score in Pune. Amidst the tension, we witnessed ‘comedy of errors’ in the last over of first innings where Mohammed Siraj fell flat on his back after a mix-up with Southee.

Southee was hitting the ball well and it was quite clear from the events of penultimate over that he wanted most of the strike for himself. Dwayne Bravo bowled a full length delivery and Southee could not connect it well. The ball went towards the short fine leg fielder Lungisani Ngidi.

Siraj was more than halfway down the pitch in an attempt to take a single but Southee sent him back. Trying to turn about in a quick motion did not work out well for Siraj as he pulled a muscle or two. However, Ngidi’s throw was way off target which denied CSK a wicket. Siraj had enough time to stand up and jog towards the non-striker’s end.

Siraj  was in agony as he fell on the ground holding his left thigh. He had to get medical attention to get back on his feet. However, at the end of the innings, Siraj got run out trying to take a couple of runs off the last ball of the innings. He did not have a good day with the ball conceding 18 runs off the two overs he bowled despite a low target of 128.
