Where Is Mayank Agarwal? Harbhajan Singh Asks Selectors Of India's Asia Cup Squad

Harbhajan Singh has raised an issue everyone is talking about for months every time BCCI announces India squad

Mayank Agarwal has been a force to reckon with in domestic cricket. Agarwal has been consistent enough to earn a place in the Indian squad whether it is List A or First-Class or T20 cricket. The 27-year-old has scored more than 2,000 runs in the current domestic cricket season. Yet again, he was ignored when the squad for Asia Cup 2018 was selected.

Harbhajan Singh did not seem too happy with the selection as he took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment.

Here’s what Harbhajan tweeted:

Many supported the Indian off-spinner for supporting the Karnataka batsman:

BCCI chief selector said in a press conference earlier this year that they are keeping an eye on Mayank as well. He said,

“Mayank has been fantastic and performing consistently for 10-12 months. I’m sure in due course of time he’ll get his recognition. He did well in all three formats in domestic cricket and whatever opportunity he’s got for India A. We’ll definitely look at him when we rest senior cricketers.”

Agarwal has scored 4 List A centuries in this calendar year already, the most by any batsman including Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He has an outrageous average of 74 from 21 List A games scoring 1481 runs.

He was roped in by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Indian Premier League (IPL), the only tournament where he didn’t live up to his reputation. However, one tournament does not nullify the performance throughout the season.

Harbhajan has not minced words when it comes to selection. In an interview with Ambati Rayudu he also expressed that the batsman deserved more chances in the team ahead of other players.
