After Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan joins bandwagon in wishing India U-17 football team

Dhawan will be rooting for the blues, what about you?

Star Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has joined his captain Virat Kohli in wishing the best to India’s U-17 football team ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Finals tournament. With under 3 days to go for the kickstart, Shikhar Dhawan has wished good luck to the U-17 team. Virat Kohli had earlier wished the team via video message and it seems the trend is catching on fast. This is the first time that India is going to host a FIFA tournament that will be played from October 6 to October 28 across the country. It is also the first time that India is going to participate in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Finals tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan has been out of the team because he was taking care of his wife who was not well. Dhawan has proved to be a key player in Virat Kohli’s team. Earlier in the year, Shikhar Dhawan turned out to be the star at the ICC Champions Trophy tournament where India finished second best, losing only to Pakistan. Dhawan was also declared the Man of the Series in the One-Day Internationals against Sri Lanka. He is likely to make a comeback in the team against New Zealand.

In a 15-second video on his official Twitter handle, Kohli had said, “Our U-17 boys are taking part in the U-17 FIFA World Cup which starts on October 6. Their first match is against team USA.”

“I would like to wish them all the very best for the first game and the rest of the tournament. Go, get it boys, make us proud,” he added.

Shikhar Dhawan’s message for the team read: “Wishing the @IndianFootball team all the best for the upcoming #FIFAU17WC. Will be cheering LOUD for the team. #BackTheBlue.”

India plays the USA in their tournament opener at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi on October 6.
