Rohit Sharma & Co looking to break 6-year-old jinx at Wankhede Stadium in 3rd T20I. Details inside

At this stage, the Indians have a fair chance to alter the stats in the record books and break the 6-year-old jinx in Mumbai

The Indian cricket team is all set to play their last international match of 2017 in Mumbai on December 24. The Men in Blue will take on Sri Lanka in the final T20I match and will look forward to yet another series whitewash against the Islanders. They have already won the tournament after winning the first two matches in Cuttack and Indore respectively and now await the biggest challenge ie winning a limited-overs match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

After lifting the World Cup in April 2011, India won another limited-overs game that year at this venue. In October 2011, they defeated England by 6 wickets in an ODI match but since then, they haven’t conquered any of the matches at Wankhede in cloured jersey.

In T2oIs, the track record of the Indian team has been extremely poor at the home ground of several Indian legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. Till date, India have played two T20I matches and lost all of them. Thus, their winning percentage at this ground automatically becomes zero.

Here are the details:

India England England 6 wickets Dec 22, 2012

Talking about the ODIs, after 2011, India played 2 games at this stadium, however, the result never came in India’s favour. One out of these two matches that India lost was Indian skipper Virat Kohli 200th appearance for India in ODI. Despite a century from the captain, the home team lost that game to the Kiwi opponents.

After losing the first ODI in Dharamsala, the Indian players have made a terrific comeback in the series and showcased an all-round performance thereafter. At this stage, the Indians don’t have much to lose and have a fair chance to alter the stats in the record books and break the 6-year-old jinx in Mumbai.
