Rashid Khan Stuns Virender Sehwag By Pulling Off MS Dhoni's Signature Shot

Any cricket fan would love to see MS Dhoni's reaction when Rashid Khan plays his signature 'helicopter shot' in front of him

Rashid Khan is one of the most exciting T20 cricketers in the world. The Afghanistan cricketer has evolved a lot in the last few years. Slowly, he is on way to becoming a lower order batsman as well. We witnessed another example of his power-hitting in the T10 League 2018 clash between Maratha Arabians and Pakhtoons on Wednesday at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium.

Rashid came out to bat in the 9th over to face a 7 feet 1-inch tall fast bowler Mohammad Irfan. The 20-year-old scored a boundary off the first ball without breaking a sweat. After playing a dot delivery, he followed it up with an MS Dhoni-esque shot. Rashid pulled off the ‘helicopter shot’ with perfection.

The execution was so perfect that it surprised Maratha Arabians batting coach and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. One cannot blame the short boundaries for the maximum as it would have been a six on any ground in the world.

The leggie shared the video on his Twitter account and paid his tribute to the inventor of the shot, MS Dhoni.

He got applause from fellow cricketers as well:

And the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach too

Although he was slogged his way to the shot, he held his position like a proper batsman which was lauded by many. Well, you have really done well if you managed to make Sehwag’s jaw drop, the batsman who was one of the most feared attacking batsman in his prime.

He scored 21 runs off 7 deliveries including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Any team appreciates a cameo like this from their lower order batsmen. Maybe that’s the reason behind sending him to bat ahead of James Faulkner and Roelof van der Merwe.
