IPL Auction 2018 Day 1: All you need to know - Players sold, Total spent, purse remaining

From the first marquee list, seven out of eight players were sold. Surprisingly, there was no bid for the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle

The much-awaited player auctions of the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place in Bengaluru on January 27. Out of 578 capped and uncapped players, 108 players went under the hammer. 78 players were sold including 29 overseas cricketers while 30 including Cris Gayle, Joe Root, Josh Hazlewood etc went unsold. A Total of Rs 321 Cr have been spent on day 1 of the mega auctions.

Here are the teams:

Delhi Daredevils (DD), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

17:52 IST: Another pacer in the SRH camp. Basil Thampi sold out for Rs 95 lakhs.

17:49 IST: SRH gets another uncapped pacer in the form of T Natarajan for Rs 40 lakhs.

17:48 IST: Siddharth Kaul is back to SRH, he is sold for Rs 3.8 Cr.

17:45 IST: The next pool of players is the uncapped fast bowlers. The first player is Kulwant Khejroliya.

17:28 IST: Ishan Kishan, who played for the Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017, has been bought by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 6.2 Cr.

17:26 IST: Now begins the auction of uncapped wicketkeepers. The first name, Jitesh Sharma remains unsold, The next man to go under the hammer is Ishan Kishan.

17:24 IST: Another talented uncapped player from the BBL, Jofra Archer, who will join D’Arcy Short in the Rajasthan Royals dressing room. He is sold for Rs 7.2 Cr.

17:17 IST: D’Arcy Short, the uncapped all-rounder from Australia, will be playing for Rajasthan Royals. He played phenomenally in the BBL for the Hobart Hurricanes and today cracked a deal of Rs 4 Cr.

17:14 IST: Nitish Rana couldn’t have received a better offer than this. With a base price of Rs 20 lakhs, he has been bought by KKR for Rs 3.4 Cr.

17:08 IST: Krunal Pandya, as expected, has been retained by MI via RTM. He will be receiving an amount of Rs 8.8 Cr for this season.

17:03 IST: After another long bidding tussle, KKR buy Indian U19 pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti for Rs 3.2 Cr. The pacer was expected to crack a good deal in his debut season and he got one.

16:59 IST: DD buys another uncapped at his base price of Rs 20 lakhs and he is Harshal Patel.

16:57 IST: Next is Vijay Shankar who performed well for SRH in the last season. However, this year he has been bought by DD for Rs 3.2 Cr.

16:53 IST: The next uncapped all-rounder is Deepak Hooda. SRH retains him via RTM at Rs 3.6 Cr.

16:49 IST: DD buy Tewatia for Rs 3 Cr.

16:46 IST: The auction of uncapped all-rounders begin and the first player to go under the hammer is Rahul Tewatia.

16:12 IST: Forner Rising Pune Supergiant opener Rahul Tripathi has been bought by Rajasthan Royals at Rs 3.4 Cr.

16:08 IST: KXIP gets first uncapped player, buys Mayank Agrawal for Rs 1 Cr.

16:07 IST: Ishank Jaggi has been bought by KKR for Rs 20 lakhs while Ricky Bhui sold on his base prize to SRH.

16:01 IST: India U-19 vice-captain Shubman Gill cracks a deal of Rs 3 Cr with KKR. It will be his debut in this cash-rich tournament.

15:50 IST: It was a tough fight between the franchise to Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Finally, KKR retained him via RTM for Rs 5.8 Cr.

15:44 IST: RCB get its spinner back. Yuzvendra Chahal retained by his old team via RTM. He will be getting an amount of Rs 6 Cr.

15:40 IST: Amit Mishra returns to DD with an amount of Rs 4 Cr. West Indies spinner Samuel Badree remains unsold.

15:27 IST: Afghanistan’s spin sensation Rashid Khan created a buzz in the auctions. After a long bidding stint, he initially cracked a deal of Rs 9 Cr with KXIP but SRH played the RTM and retained him.

15:26 IST: Another tussle from CSK to buy leg-spinner Karn Sharma. Finally, he is set to play under MS Dhoni and got sold for Rs 5 Cr.

15:22 IST: Surprisingly, Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi remain unsold.

15:21 IST: Imran Tahir to play under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. CSK buy him for Rs 1 Cr.

15:17 IST: After a long tussle among the bidders, Piyush Chawla has been retained by KKR via RTM. He will be paid an amount of Rs 4.2 Cr from the franchise.

09:26 IST: A total of 16 marquee players with a base price ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore are set to go under the hammer today.

Earlier, all the eight franchises announced the names of the retained players for the eleventh edition of this cash-rich tournament starting from April 7, 2018, in Mumbai.

Apart from the fresh auctions, the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the tournament has been the talk of the town for quite a long while now. These two franchises were suspended for two years due to corruption charges.
