Indian pacer Vinay Kumar is currently leading the Karnataka side in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and recently grabbed the limelight during the last match against Punjab. Though Vinay and his team lost the game in the super over, his efforts to run Gurkeerat Singh out were simply phenomenal. His act reminded everyone of Jonty Rhodes and his flying act in World Cup 1992 against Pakistan.
In the 13th over of Punjab innings, Gurkeerat Singh played the ball towards the mid-on and hesitated before taking a single. Meanwhile, his partner crossed the half crease which forced Gurkeerat to run towards the other end. The throw from the mid-on region missed the wickets. Vinay, who was fielding at the mid-off, rushed with the ball and took a dive to dislodge the bails.
Later, Vinay, who had spent a lot of time learning fielding techniques from Rhodes at the Mumbai Indians camp, shared the video and asked Jonty about his performance.
Here’s the tweet:

After this tweet, Jonty took to his official account and replied to Vinay Kumar’s tweet:
Vinay I did not think u were old enough to be watching me at ‘92 World Cup!!

It was a great point raised by Jonty but Vinay came up with an answer and revealed where he watched the glimpses of South Africa vs Pakistan 1992 world cup match

Let’s have a look at the video from 1992 World Cup where Jonty flies in the air to get rid of Inzamam-ul-Haq:
Punjab got a target of 159 runs to chase in 20 overs but they ended up with 158 runs and tied the score. In the super over, Punjab scored 15 runs with Yuvraj hitting a boundary and Mandeep Singh smacking K Gowtham for a six. Karnataka fell short by 4 runs and lost the game.
