Lasith Malinga is a one-of-a-kind bowler, but it seems India has found it’s homegrown version of the Sri Lankan pacer and he is Tamil Nadu’s, V Athiyasayaraj Davidson. Davidson shot to limelight during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Fans took notice of him at Eden Gardens, Kolkata when Delhi locked horns with Tamil Nadu. Aakash Chopra was quick to spot him and he was the one who labelled him ‘India’s Lasith Malinga’.
Chopra, a former cricketer and now a commentator, took to his Twitter account and posted the bowler’s video and tweeted:

Athisayaraj started his career with the Globe Trotters in 2015 after TN pacer Sunil Sam saw him bowl during a university match and referred him to the MRF-run side. TNPL proved to be his launch pad in a way.
The 25-year-old pacer from Thoothukudi has taken 10 wickets in five T20 League South Zone matches, including a five-fer against Karnataka, which helped him grab the attention of IPL franchises. He also averages 16.90 and has a strike rate of 12.6 and an economy of 8.04. But unfortunately, his name does not feature on the final list of players who will go under the hammer.
The youngster has played 6 T20s, wherein he bagged 10 wickets. He is one of the many players like T Natarajan and Murugan Ashwin who found recognition thanks to the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
