IPL 2018: Virat Kohli Comes Up With Emotional Message After Getting Almost Eliminated From Playoffs

IPL 2018: With six points in their kitty and a net run rate of minus 0.361, Royal Challengers Bangalore hold the 7th position

Another season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) turned out to be a rough one for Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). At the very beginning, the fans of this franchise were stunned by the decision of not having KL Rahul and Chris Gayle back in the side. Once they got used to it, the revamped RCB side broke the remaining hopes of their followers. Losing one game after another put them near the bottom of the points table. They tried their best to recover from their situation with every passing opportunity, but, unfortunately, they failed.

After losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 7, they are almost out of the race to the knockout round. Despite being in a disheartening state in the tournament, captain Kohli came up with an emotional message for his team members. He shared a few pictures on social media and captioned,”Win or lose, We stick together!

RCB have played a total of 10 games so far in the IPL out of which they managed to win just 3. With six points in their kitty and a net run rate of minus 0.361, they hold the 7th position. They have 4 games ahead and if they win all of them, they could be in the playoffs only if:

  • Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Daredevils (DD) lose all but one match each
  • Rajasthan Royals lose all their remaining matches
  • Mumbai Indians win only 2 of their next four matches

If these calculations turn out to be true, then RCB may grab the 4th position with 14 points and will have a chance to play the eliminator May 23 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
