IPL 2018: Twitterati React To Gautam Gambhir's Shocking Decision To Leave Delhi Daredevils' Captaincy

IPL 2018: After Delhi Daredevils' dismal show till now, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as captain to make way for Shreyas Iyer

Delhi Daredevils (DD) are currently at the bottom of Indian Premier League (IPL) points table after losing five out of six matches this season. DD, who have not been able to qualify for a single IPL final in the past 10 seasons, had roped in Gautam Gambhir as their captain. Gambhir has led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to title win twice in the past and expectations were high for him to do it for DD this year as well. However, their inability to win matches has reflected badly on the franchise once again.

Gambhir has not been able to score freely this season. He has scored just 85 runs in five innings, including a half-century. His scores in the previous three games have been in single digits which prompted many to question his form.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted after Gambhir decided to step down from the captaincy —

Shreyas Iyer will be leading the DD side now. Iyer has been in good form this season with the bat, alongside Rishabh Pant. He almost led DD to a win against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the previous match on their home ground, which turned out to be a low-scoring affair. The 23-year-old has scored 141 runs in six innings, including two consecutive half-centuries.
