IPL 2018, RR vs SRH, Match 28: Hyderabad Bowlers' Repeat The Same Old Story

IPL 2018, RR vs SRH: Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane's half-century goes in vain as they lose by 11 runs

It felt like Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are destined to win a match when they are defending the target. They have got three in three now. Despite Ajinkya Rahane’s near-perfect captain know, SRH bowlers repeated what they have been doing of late. They made a comeback by getting wickets in middle overs and then capitalised when the pressure was mounting on Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsmen. Nothing new, same old story. SRH are currently at the top of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 points table.

Here are the live social updates of RR vs SRH clash –

19:25 IST I guess I knew it all along. SRH once again defend a low-scoring total. SRH win by 11 runs, Ajinkya Rahane carries his bat scoring 65 runs from 53 deliveries.

19:20 IST The question is, what was the umpire doing signalling it as not out. That was not the need anyway.

19:17 IST And Lomror departs. To be fair it was not a good decision to send him ahead of Gowtham.

19:07 IST Rahane is there to bat, not chose who comes to watch the match or not. Twitter is a strange place. 50 for RR skipper.

19:03 IST English players under pressure after not being able to score.

18:56 IST Whenever Rashid Khan picks up a wicket. Jos Buttler back in the hut.

18:50 IST Stuart Binny isn’t even playing but still getting trolled.

18:42 IST And Ben Stokes fails again, out for a duck to Yusuf Pathan.

18:36 IST Rajasthan lose their second wicket, Sanju Samson departs for 40. Siddharth Kaul comes to the rescue.

18:32 IST It is a batsman’s game after all.

18:24 IST When the audience wants to see fours and sixes all around the park.

18:18 IST Rajasthan have scored 43 runs from the powerplay overs. Meanwhile I am eagerly waiting for this.

18:13 IST More Samson jokes coming up. Meanwhile he has scored 20 runs off 14 deliveries.

18:10 IST This has got to be one of the funniest tweet of the day.

18:06 IST When you get the wicket of your captain.

17:59 IST This guy has some weird explanation for the future matches despite their decent performances on why SRH should lose despite being the team’s fan.

17:53 IST Here are the two players who were one of the most expensive buys in IPL 2018 auction –

Innings break

17:35 IST Was this the message from SRH captain, will they be able to defend the total at Jaipur?

17:30 IST No matter how many matches SRH win, this will be a constant –

17:13 IST Even we tend to agree on this one.

17:09 IST Williamson is not happy with that decision but he has to go after snicko confirmation.

16:52 IST Finally, finally Kane Williamson has switched gears and how. 21 runs from the over.

16:47 IST When fireworks (fours and sixes) in the middle are scarce and you’re a die-hard SRH fan.

16:41 IST Ben Stokes gets some respect from Twitterati as he did not claim the catch. Alex Hales survives.

16:31 IST Singles and doubles being taken by Hales and Williamson. Common guys, give us something to cheer for.

16:21 IST He has not even been expensive in the match yet and the trolls have targeted him already.

16:16 IST Williamson, Hales seem to be having it easy out there. Meanwhile, either this person’s sarcasm level it too high or he is living under the rock. SRH 26/1 in 4 overs

16:08 IST And Dhawan departs, Gowtham takes a wicket! Seems like Dhawan’s ‘God of War’ mode is on standby.

15:59 IST Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson come out to bat. Surprisingly, Gowtham opens the bowling.

15:53 IST Hales has done exceptionally well in leagues across the world. He was one of the top performers in the T10 leagues as well. Meanwhile, Hales’ fans be like –

15:45 IST Surprise entry from RR too. Local boy Mahipal Lomror makes into the side. Kiwi leg-spinner given a chance on a pitch that has barely any help for spinners. Strange decision from skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Seems like mentor Shane Warne has a soft spot for leg-spinners.

15:40 IST Finally, Alex Hales makes into the side making his debut in IPL.

15:35 IST Playing XIs

RR: Ajinkya Rahane(c), Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler(w), Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Mahipal Lomror, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni, Ish Sodhi

SRH: Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson(c), Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Rashid Khan, Basil Thampi, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma

15:30 IST Kane Williamson wins the toss and elects to bat first.

In the last match, they finally included Caribbean all-rounder Jofra Archer into the side and the results were astounding. Archer busted into the scene with his fiery yorkers followed by sensible batting with Krishnappa Gowtham towards the end of run-chase. Gowtham too proved to be a trump card for RR, something even they did not anticipate.

SRH have a few problems on their hand despite winning the previous few games. Shikhar Dhawan is struggling with his form after an injury. The bench strength of SRH has been strong, had it not been the case, they would be missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s services too.
