Mumbai Indians (MI) have been unfortunate in their stint at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 so far, losing the match in the final over. First, it happened against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the tournament opener, followed by another loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by just one wicket on the final delivery. The games have gone right down to the wire, but sadly not in MI’s way.

Similar has been the case with Rohit Sharma’s batting. While former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly expected that Rohit might end up becoming the first batsman to score a double century in T20 cricket, the MI skipper has barely scored in double digits.

Their top order has not been able to deliver and MI’s new West Indies recruit Evin Lewis has not been able to flaunt his skills yet. On the other hand, Mayank Markande has been able to fool many with his googlies and street-smart leg spin. Markande is not just the first player to win the purple cup this season, but the bloke’s fan following has increased mutlifold on social media.

Unfortunately, the grass being greener on the sider is a far cry from the reality as Delhi Daredevils have not been able to register a single win despite “Delhi Munda” Gautam Gambhir’s return to his home team. First, it was Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) opener KL Rahul’s fastest ever IPL fifty, followed by ‘Rain Gods’ who shortened the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a 6-over game.

DD need a stroke of luck too if they are to make it to their maiden IPL final after 10 seasons. Though the biggest question is, will India’s Under-19 World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw finally get a chance to play?
