IPL 2018: Kamlesh Nagarkoti Ruled Out Of IPL 11, Lungi Ngidi Returns Home After Father's Demise

IPL 2018: This edition of IPL has seen several players being ruled out of the tournament due to injury, especially bowlers

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 has seen several players being ruled out of the tournament due to injuries. The latest addition to the list is Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) star and Under-19 recruit Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The 18-year-old has had to depart from the tournament due to a foot injury. KKR had roped him in for a whopping Rs 3.2 crore after the bowling sensation’s successful Under-19 World Cup 2019 campaign.

This is a big blow for KKR as they needed a bowler in their side after Vinay Kumar’s dismal show in the first two matches. Nagarkoti has the ability to bowl at speeds above 140 with ease and could have been a useful addition to KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik’s bowling attack.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have had two wins in two games so far, have also suffered a blow. Their South African recruit Lungi Ngidi had to fly back home after his father, Jerome Ngidi passed away.

On April 14, Cricket South Africa (CSA) President Chris Nenzani extended his condolences to the 22-year-old and his family.

He said:

Cricket South Africa is shocked and deeply saddened by the passing away of Mr Ngidi. We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Lungi and his family. May the Lord be with him and comfort the rest of the Ngidi Family during this difficult time.

Ngidi rose to fame during Test series between South Africa and India. The young fast bowler took a six-wicket haul against India at the Centurion, which made headlines. He was picked by CSK for Rs 50 lakh at the IPL 2018 auctions.

CSK have already lost Mitchell Santner, Kedar Jadhav for the tournament and Suresh Raina for a few matches. It is still unclear whether Ngidi is going to miss the whole tournament or not.
