IPL 2018: Franchises Mid-Season Transfer Plans Revealed!

IPL 2018: None of the franchises have made any advances towards a player during mid-season transfers

Mid-season transfer window was introduced for the first time in the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Football-style transfers have been introduced. So, can franchises fill in players who have not been utilised by other franchises in the tournament or not is the question. The window has been active since Match 28 and will be active till Match 42. However, none of the franchises have made any moves towards trading players.

There are a few loopholes in the mid-season transfers as a capped player, who has more than two matches is not eligible for transfer. However, there are no conditions for an uncapped player.

Here’s what an unnamed franchise official told India Today, “There are few grey areas. A number of franchises already have 25 players in the squad, so they are unlikely to make use of this mid-season loan transfer,”

The two-match rule also rules out the possibility of big names included in the pool of players eligible for the transfers. Here’s what another franchise official had to say, “If a big name was available we would have looked into it, but the current lot doesn’t peak our interest,”

There are players like David Willey, Moeen Ali, Parthiv Patel, Adam Milne and Carlos Brathwaite who have not played a single game for their franchise. There are chances that these players can be roped in by other franchises as the tournament progresses. If there are no shuffles in this edition of IPL, we might see a few changes made in the rules and regulations in IPL 2019.
