India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test Day 2, Highlights: Indian batting prevails with tons of Murli and Pujara

On day 2, The Lankan bowlers could pick just one wicket in the entire day and conceded a total of 301 runs. India were 312/2 by the end of day's play

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test day 2 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur: Stumps Day-3, IND: 312/2, Lead by 107 runs. With spinners dominating on the first day, the Indian batsmen performed phenomenally on day two. Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay resumed the game at 11/1. Vijay began the game with a four and kept his run-scoring momentum intact. Before the end of the first session, Vijaya got his 16th Test fifty which came off 112 balls. He went on to score more and got his 10th Test hundred off 187 balls. On the other hand, Pujara kept his patient batting on and got his 17th Test fifty. Both of them have made a partnership of 121 runs before Vijaya was caught out by Herath on a delivery by Dilruwan Perera.

After Vijay’s dismissal, Pujara took the charge and started playing big shots. He further went on to score the Skipper Virat Kohli also kept on frustrating the Lankan bowlers. Pujara got his 14th Test ton while Kohli went on to get his 16th Test Fifty.

The bowlers had a gala time on day 1. It was expected that the spinners might not play their spin tricks but the Indian spin duo cleared the doubts. Unlike the previous game, Ashwin plucked 4 wickets in the first innings while Jadeja and Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets each.

From the Lankan side, Dimuth Karunaratne (51) and skipper Dinesh Chandimal (57) remained the highest scorers and scored their respective half-centuries.
