Watch: Virat Kohli assures fans for a better performance against Australia in Bengaluru Test

Virat Kohli has cleared the air over India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya selection as he is unavailable due to shoulder strain

Virat Kohli accepts that they did not play good cricket against Australia and assured everyone that the kind of cricket they played at Pune will not be repeated again. Australian skipper scored a century in the Pune Test, on being asked if they have made any special strategy for him, he said, “The focus is not only on him, I think the whole team has to play well against Australia to win Test match. Wea re not focusing on one player at all. The whole 10 wickets have to be taken twice to win a Test match.”

Kohli has taken the Pune defeat as an opportunity to work on the flaws which were exposed in the first Test. He said,” When you are winning you tend to ignore areas where you need to improve much. We got to know a few things that still needed working on to be the top side in the world. We should not take it for granted for any stage.

He cleared the air on Hardik Pandya as he is unavailable for selection in Tests due to a minor shoulder strain. Though, Kohli kept his cards up his sleeve when he was asked about the team combinations. He revealed that they have two to three combinations but that is something he won’t be giving away now.

Kohli also talked about the criticism surrounding all-rounder Jayant Yadav, he said, “Jayant has been outstanding. He has been brilliant, very intelligent. All of us go through the grind. Pune wasn’t his best game, but I won’t judge as he has played too little. He knows how to turn things around and will get back into the zone.”

India will be playing the second Test against Australia at Bengaluru. The pitch is supposed to be much better than the one in Pune for batsmen. Bengaluru pitch is also believed to be a surface which will yield a result in a span of 5 days. Earlier Indian coach Anil Kumble too asked everyone to move on from Pune Test and focus on the second one, he believes that India can win the series as they have lost only one game.
