Here's why Shikhar Dhawan opted out of the Nagpur Test and it's not Bhuvneshwar Kumar's wedding!

Shikhar Dhawan earlier took a break from the team during the Sri Lankan tour to be with his ailing mother

Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar cited personal reasons for not featuring in the India Test squad ahead of the Nagpur Test. It is no secret that Bhuvneshwar is set to marry Nupur Nagar on November 23 and that’s why he won’t be playing in the second Test. However, it was not clear why Dhawan opted out of the second Test despite being in a good form.

Dhawan posted a photo with his wife Ayesha Mukherjee on his Instagram account on November 23. Seems like wedding bells had been ringing in Dhawan’s family too. As it turns out, Dhawan took a break to attend his sister’s wedding. On the occasion, he was sporting a suit whereas his wife was wearing a gown, as per the photo.

Dhawan displayed a decent form in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The left-handed opener got out after scoring just 8 runs in the first innings but came back strongly in the second innings.

However, the southpaw missed out on hitting a century. He scored 94 runs from 116 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. He shared a game-changing partnership of 166 runs with opener KL Rahul which helped Team India get rid of the trail and put pressure on Sri Lankans in the fourth innings during the last couple of sessions.
