It has been a fruitful day for Indian shuttlers at the Australian Open Super Series as India’s Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu books a quarter-final berth by beating Chen Xiaoxin in straight games (21-13, 21-18). Xiaoxin and Sindhu were having a neck-to-neck affair in the starting of the second game after a comprehensive first game (21-13).

Before Sindhu reached the quarter-final by dominating Xiaxon, India’s male shuttler did well in the tournament as well. Kidambi Srikanth was able to beat World’s No.1 Son Wan Ho for two times in the two weeks and created a stir in Badminton world by rising up to 11 in the World Rankings.

Srikanth has been emphasised upon for his win over the World No.1 as he recently won the Indonesian Open as well. But, B Sai Praneeth too has managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open Super Series. Both, India’s male shuttlers will go up against each other in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Earlier, Sindhu crashed out of the Indonesian Open. She was among the favourites of the tournament as she was able to beat Indian Open Series by beating Spain’s Carolina Marin in April.
