Australian Open: Kidambi Srikanth does it again, beats World No.1 Son Wan Ho 2 times in 2 weeks to reach quarter-finals

Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth beats World No.1 Wan San Ho to reach the quarterfinals of Australian Open Super Series

Kidambi Srikanth proves that he did not get lucked out when he beat World No.1 Son Wan Ho in the Indonesian Open. Srikanth has done it again, he has beaten the World No.1 in Australian Open Super Series to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament. Srikanth has pulled it off for the second time in a week’s span. Srikanth made a comeback after losing the first set by 13-21. Eventually, he managed to beat Son Wan Ho by 13-21, 21-13, 21-13 in the second round of the tournament.

Srikanth was able to beat the Korean shuttler for the second time in two weeks. Srikanth had beaten the World No.1 in the Indonesian Super Series semi-final by 21-15, 14-21, and 24-22. Although this win of Srikanth was much comprehensive as it did not right down to the wire like the previous one.

Srikanth is on a roll as he recently won the Indonesian Open by outclassing Japan shuttler Kazumasa Sakai. Meanwhile, B Sai Praneeth too reached the quarter-final of Australian Open Super Series by beating Chinese shuttler Huang Yuxiang in a nerve-wracking game.

Praneeth emerged victorious as he won by 21-15, 18-21, 21-13 in a match where he was trailing by 19-12 in the second game.

It will be a battle of the two Indians in the Australian Open Super Series quarter-finals as Srikanth goes up against Praneeth.

Srikanth had also impressed everyone and made a name for himself in Rio Olympics 2016 by reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament. Post his victory over Wan San Ho, Srikanth has risen up to World No.11 in rankings.
