India vs Pakistan Final, ICC Champions Trophy 2017: PCB to launch 'formal protest' against Aamer Sohail, backs Sarfraz Ahmed and team

As reported by Pakistan-based Geo News, PCB chairman Shehrayar Khan confirmed that along with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the PCB will lodge a formal protest against Aamer Sohail for allowing such "unpatriotic remarks to be aired on television"

A day after former Pakistan cricketer Aamer Sohail put serious fixing allegations on Pakistani cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come up in support of Pak skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. PCB chief Shahryar Khan has termed Sohail’s remarks as “disgraceful unwarranted and vicious remarks by a frustrated former cricketer”.

As reported by Pakistan-based Geo News, Shehrayar Khan confirmed that along with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the PCB will lodge a formal protest for allowing such “unpatriotic remarks to be aired on television”.

Without mentioning former Pak cricketers name, PCB chairman appreciated the effort put by the Pakistan team to reach the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final. In a statement released, the PCB chairman said,”Entire nation and the PCB wholeheartedly supports captain Sarfraz and his team before the most important match faced by Pakistan in over 2 decades.”

On June 15, former Pakistani batsman Aamir Sohail alleged that Pakistan team has reached the final through some with the help of “external forces”. While speaking to a private Pakistani news channel, Aamer said,”Sarfraz needs to be told that you have not done anything great. Someone has helped you win the game. There is no reason for you (Sarfraz) to be so happy. We all know what happens behind the scenes. Don’t wish to get into the details on who won them the games.”

“Sarfaraz should only play cricket his cricket. We are well aware of everyone’s calibre,” Sohail added.

Former Indian skipper Ganguly also reacted to this remark and termed his statement as “stupid”. While speaking to a leading Indian news channel, Ganguly said,”One who played for the country and captained should be appreciating the way they come to the final.”

After losing the series opener to India, Pakistan made a very good comeback in the ongoing tournament. They defeated the world no 1 South Africa, Sri Lanka and then England in the semi-finals. They are scheduled to play India in the finals on June 18 in London.
