A case has also been registered against the hospital under POSCO act for not informing the police the same day when the girl was hospitalised for delivery

In a record that you certainly don’t want to be a part of, a 12-year-old boy in India has become a father of a newborn baby and he could be considered as the youngest father in the country. The readers could find this news bizarre but this incident has happened for real in Kerala.

The 12-year-boy has been booked by the police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) after a 17-year-old teenage girl gave birth to a baby girl and accused the boy of impregnating her.

As stated by the local police, both the boy and girl are relatives and the case has been registered against the boy after taking girl’s statement. Further, the police will be conducting a DNA test to clarify the claim made by the girl that the nabbed boy is the father of the newly born girl child. The boy would be prosecuted under the  Juvenile Justice Act.

Apart from the boy, a case has also been registered against the hospital under POSCO act for not informing the police the same day when the girl was hospitalised for delivery. However, the hospital is claiming of informing the district childline authorities immediately after they came to know the claim made by the girl.

The hospital administration also asserted that the girl was brought to the hospital by her family members and the newly born child has been handed over to a childcare organisation after the girl’s family informed the district childline authorities that they don’t want to accept the child.
