Here's a look at different ensembles donned by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma on their D-day and what makes them so special

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are married, much to the delight of his fans. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in Italy on December 11, and shared the news with a beautiful message on their respective social media accounts. While social media is flooded with pictures and videos from their ‘fairytale’ destination wedding in Tuscany, we cannot take our eyes off the stunning bride and groom.

From haldi and mehendi to the engagement and wedding ceremonies, the entire wedding trousseau of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Here’s a look at different ensembles donned by the duo and what makes them so special:

Engagement Ceremony

While Virat opted for a blue tuxedo, Anushka chose to go for a velvet Sabyasachi saree in a beautiful gulkand burgundy colour.  It was hand-embroidered using miniature pearls and the finest quality zardosi and marori.

She completed her look with kohl-rimmed eyes, deep pink roses pairing it with an uncut diamond and pearl choker from the designer’s Heritage Jewelry collection.

Mehendi Ceremony

Describing Virat and Anushka’s colourful Mehendi ensembles, Sabyasachi took to social media and wrote:

”Anushka wanted a boho look full of bright colours. Hot pink was her favourite. We created a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. Artists from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation rendered a beautiful sixties pop print and it was silk screen printed, hand woven Indian silk. Anushka accessorised herself with earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. Custom juttis in handwoven brocade and zardosi completed the look.

And Virat opted for a signature khadi kurta churidaar with our classic fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket detailed with the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons. A custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was created for the ensemble.”

Wedding Ceremony:

Anushka Sharma wore a pale blush pink lehenga with exotic birds and butterflies embroidered in silk floss. Her lehenga took 32 days and 67 workers to complete and the outcome is simply stunning.

She chose to go for a no-makeup look and accessorised with beautiful traditional jadau jewellery handcrafted with uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls, all from Sabyasachi’s Heritage Jewelry collection again.

Virat donned a raw silk sherwani in ivory colour which had royal Benarasi embroidery, giving it a more traditional look. The cricketer completed his look with an old rose silk Kota safa.

Here’s wishing Virat And Anushka a very happy married life ahead!
