Stunning Karisma Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari look elegant on day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week

Unlike the other days in the five-day Mumbai event, the Bollywood celebrity quotient remained low but couturiers had the best of their wares on the ramp.

The penultimate day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 made for an exciting fashion extravaganza with newcomers and experienced designers coming together to showcase opulent designs on the ramp. Keeping to the summer resort themes, the day saw western wear and Indian wear on the runway. Here are our picks of the day for some of the best collections on the ramp.tahiliani

Bold stripes juxtaposed with solid coloured western wear ruled the ram in the latest collection by Sonal Verma of Rara Avis. Tassles, pleates, ruffles were major elements in some loose comfortable clothing styles showcased on the runway by this Delhi-based designer. The collection had skirts, tops and palazzos with voluminous draped jackets with heavy patchwork embroidered floral motifs.savio-jon

Light embroidery and subtle texturing were the look that Champagne by Pinakin went for in the label’s latest collection presented at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017. The champagne colour, gold, and white with a bright red palette was presented on the runway with the line that ranged from skirts, floor length gowns to kurtas and sarees.

Mumbai-based designer Fahd Khatri’s menswear and womenswear collection for the season was a play with asymmetry. Solid colours like yellows, oranges, greens etc with a relaxed silhouette. Loose trousers, dhoti pants and draped tops with chequered relaxed detailing were the flavors for this collection.rara-avis-photo-1

‘Romance of Kotwara’ collection by Meera and Muzaffar Ali had beautifully subtle lehengas with Zardozi and Kamdani embroideries. Lightweight brocades and voiles were used in the collection in early whites, yellows, and black. Actor Aditi Rao Hydari walked down the ramp as the showstopper for this collection.

Savio Jon brought in his Goan heritage to the runway with asymmetrical hemlines, comfort holiday wear in a riot of colours. There was a heavy use of a variety of techniques in his collection including madras checks, block prints, indigo dyeing etc, colour blocking etc.

The king of drapes Tarun Tahiliani showcased a pastel collection for the season. With American actor model-TV host Padma Lakshmi walking down the ramp as the showstopper the evening ended on a high note. He set the trend on the runway using lehengas with shirts, drapes saris and floral printed dresses.
