Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 drew to a close on Sunday with a bang. The celebrity quotient on and off the runway was high and the finale definitely kept everyone eager to see new mom Kareena Kapoor Khan walk down the ramp for Anita Dongre. Award winning actor Tabu looked resplendent in white as she walked down for Gaurang Shah.
Tabu was not the only one who dazzled on the runway. The last day saw several stars walk down the ramp. The A-list included Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, who looked sensational in a floor-length purple gown for the label Mugdha Art Studio. Television star Amit Sadh looked dapper in black while Neerja star Jim Sarbh was relaxed in a summery ensemble.
The others who were spotted on the ramp included Sophie Choudhary, Malaika Arora Khan, Amyra Dastur, Ujjwala Rout, RJ Malishka, Mallika Dua and Varun Thakur. But it was the collections of the designer which stole the show. The razzmatazz at the venue was palpable with the weeklong celebration of fashion finally coming to an end.
Here are our top picks from the last day:
The young designer duo Vineet-Rahul from Delhi enthralled the audience with their beautiful feminine Indian silhouettes in a white and pink palette. Their signature embroideries with intricate motifs of pomegranates, bulbul and flora were used heavily for sarees and dresses. Cropped loose fit pants, long gowns, sleeved capes were included in the line.
Off shoulder tops, loosely fitted gowns, sheer lehengas in soft pinks and greens made for Anushree Reddy’s summer bridal collection called ‘An Indian Summer’. It had floral prints and embroideries with intricate detailing with a light weight soft feminine look. The styling was kept simple with billowy hair and bronzed makeup.
Gaurang Shah’s love for Indian textiles was evident from the latest collection again; but this time, the designer chose to go with a monochromatic white palette. The regal collection entirely in white had gold work on them including sarees, lehengas, and sheer dupattas. The pure whites slowly evolved into gold on white.
Vidhi Wadhwani’s collection called the ‘La-Isla’ was a celebration of the spring summer with lightweight fabrics in voluminous ruffles. The romantic line included cutout dresses as well as sheer billowy dresses. Model-actor Ujjwala Rout sashayed down the ramp in a polka dotted asymmetrical gown as the showstopper.
The grand finale of the Lakme Fashion Week 2017 took place at the Bandra Fort. Also known as Castella de Aguada, it was the perfect backdrop for Anita Dongre’s finale collection titles ‘Alchemy’. Kareena Kapoor Khan returned to the ramp after delivering her baby looking ravishing in a white midi gown with a sleeved sheer gold cape. The entire collection emanated elegance and Anita’s signature simplistic and intricate designing prowess.
