The festival of Holi is all about having fun with colours, but its aftermath can leave our hair and skin dry. However, following certain measures can provide protection up to a certain extent. Thus, in this post, we have rounded up few pre and post-Holi hair care tips to ensure that harmful toxins present in colours won’t take away the sheen of your hair.
Coconut oil massage: Coconut oil shields your hair with a protective layer which then helps you to wash off colour with ease. Thus, massaging your scalp with coconut oil prior to start with the celebrations is always a good idea.
Don’t forget to tie: Tie your hair so that the colour stains are splashed only in lesser areas. For the purpose, braids are better than the ponytails.
Lemon for sensitive scalp: If you have a sensitive scalp, using lemon can save it from itching and dryness. Just add a few drops of lemon to coconut oil and apply it on your hair.
Vinegar to get rid of itching: This remedy falls into the list of post-Holi care, in a mug of water, add two tablespoons of Vinegar and pour the solution over your scalp and then rinse thoroughly with water.
First, rinse with water, then shampoo: As you get under the shower, first rinse out all the colour from of your hair with plain water, continue until the water in your shower runs clear and then do your shampoo and conditioner routine.
Root mask: Root mask protects your scalp from getting dry. A number of good masks are available in the market, buy the one as per your scalp type.
Overnight care: If you feel that the scalp is still dry, opting for overnight oil therapy is the best option. Apply the oil on the scalp, leave it for the night and then wash it off with shampoo the next morning.
