It seems that 2017 is going to be the year of naked pictures. After Female rugby team and redhead men calendar, here comes the third one — Warwick female Rowers 2017 calendar. To promote body confidence among young women, members of Warwick University’s rowing team is back in its 2017 edition of the saucy calendar. This tastefully shot black and white calendar is aimed at generating funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team’s calendar officer ‘Sophie ’told a leading daily that the images of women that appear in magazines and on adverts are ‘an unrealistic portrayal of the female body’.
‘Through our images, we hope to inspire confidence in others by showing that all shapes and sizes are beautiful,’ she added. She further revealed that Macmillan Cancer Support was a cause close to all of the girls’ hearts, especially since a relative of a team member was affected by the disease.
The team, which trains twice in a day, first released their daring charity calendar in 2015 and also hit the headlines for the same as the calendar was branded ‘pornographic’, despite its arty aesthetic. Following the controversy, the calendar page was also banned from the Facebook.
However, the rowers still managed to generate £12,000 for the cancer charity. Later the page was subsequently reinstated, and the girls now have close to 8,000 likes online. Now, in this latest edition, the rowers can be seen posing nude without their kit. With a motive to defeat the stereotypes of size zero bodies, the hot snaps include the team rowing, cycling and even using weights while totally starkers. It’s not only the girls from the Warwick, who come forward for good causes.
Warwick University students first became known for taking their clothes off in 2009, when the male rowing squad released a naked calendar to raise money for boat repairs and new equipment. Later the act became a phenomenon with the celebrity following that includes Sir Ian McKellen, Kris Jenner, and Kylie Minogue.
