"Will she start Anti-'Republic'?" Twitter goes amok as Barkha Dutt quits NDTV

After working with NDTV for over 21 years Barkha Dutt resigned from her position in the news channel. Naturally, Twitter went berserk.

Twitter can be a mean place. The Twitterati went berserk when Editor-in-Chief of Times Now announced his resignation. He was trolled even more when he announced his new venture “Republic”. The Twitter users even went on to observe “One-minute of noise” to observe the “occasion.” Today, senior and renowned journalist, Barkha Dutt has stepped down from the position of as Consulting Editor of NDTV.

In an official statement released from NDTV, the company has said that the journalist has requested the company that she would now like to explore new opportunities.

And of course, Twitter went out of control trying to guess her new venture. While some said did wish her well and lauded her for her contribution some wondered if she was coming with a new venture to compete Arnab Goswami’s “Republic”. Some even claimed that she might join Republic.

Well, we’ll just have to wait and watch, my friend.

Barkha Dutt who hosts her own TV program, “We the People” took to Twitter to confirm the news and said that she would be moving and starting her own venture. She has been associated with the channel for the last 21 years and rose to fame after coverage of Kargil war in 1999. “Its been a super ride at NDTV but new beginning in 2017. I shall be moving on from NDTV to explore new opportunities & my own ventures,” she tweeted.
