Wife's cancer turns 72-year old man into a violin sensation

Swapan Seth has been travelling across the country and playing violin to raise money for his ailing wife.

Unbound love for his cancer-struck wife prompted a 72-year old Kolkata husband to embark on tours across the country, so that he could raise money by playing violin to fund the treatment of his ailing wife.
Swapan Seth’s wife was diagnosed with uterine cancer back in 2002. Mr Seth took up violin around 10 years ago and has been performing at different cities since then. According to an interview of Mr Seth published in Midday recently, he makes around Rs 7,000 for every single performance which goes into the cause of treating his wife.
Mr Seth recently travelled to Mumbai along with his wife to get her checked up at Tata Memorial Hospital, and it was during the same trip that he managed to raise Rs 40,000.

According to the Midday report, Mr Seth also sells his recorded CDs and paintings to raise funds for his wife’s treatment.
Apparently, there was an outpouring of support for the septuagenarian after his story was published.
“I am a music lover and earnestly wanted to buy his CD after I read his story in Mid-Day. I was planning to meet him on Sunday itself but due to transportation issues, I couldn’t, as I stay at Kandivli. The next time he comes to Mumbai I will try my best to do something to arrange his performance,” a Mumbai resident was quoted as saying.
