Twitter not pleased with Yogi Adityanath's govt dropping Taj Mahal from its tourism booklet

Yogi Adityanath's government has left out one of the most popular tourist destination, Taj Mahal, out of UP tourism booklet

In a shocking development, the Uttar Pradesh government led by UP CM Yogi Adityanath has omitted popular tourist destination Taj Mahal from official booklet released by state’s tourism ministry. The UP government has released the booklet in a bid to promote famous tourist areas in Uttar Pradesh. The booklet reportedly has Ganga Aarti from Varanasi as its cover image.

While listing the popular tourist destinations in the state, the tourism ministry has mentioned temples from Mathura, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur but has decided to drop one of the seven wonders of the world – Taj Mahal. It must be noted that thousands of tourists from across the globe thrive to this spot and the tomb earns a huge amount of revenue for the government.

Even though the reason for dropping the tomb of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal is not known yet, the move has sparked a fresh row and triggered criticism on social media. Here’s how the Twitterati responded:

Meanwhile, the state government has reportedly clarified that the pictures of Taj Mahal will be added in the booklet.

Earlier this year, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had stated that even though Taj Mahal was a famous tourist destination it was not a part of our culture and Gita, Ramayana was a part of the Indian culture. Taj Mahal, a UNESCO world heritage site, is one of the iconic destinations listed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat mission.

Taj Mahal was also left out of the UP budget heritage plan drawing huge criticism against the Yogi Adityanath government.
