2 arrested in Kerala actress molestation case

The police officials have arrested two of the accused in connection with the abduction and molestation of a renowned Malayalam actress. However, 4 days on, two of the accused are still on run. The police have launched a massive manhunt post the widespread outrage over the incident and is currently making efforts to nab the accused. After being informed about the incident, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan spoke to the victim and affirmed that the government will provide all the necessary support and will also ensure that the culprits received a strict punishment. Rs 1,000 notes to make a comeback soon

Rs 1000 notes that were scrapped away on November 8 along with Rs 500 notes, will soon be back in the market with a number of modifications. The Reserve Bank of India is reportedly in the process of printing new Rs 1000 notes that became an illegal tender when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the government’s decision to demonetise higher denomination currency notes. According to reports, the RBI was supposed to launch new Rs 1000 notes in the month of January but could not go ahead with the plan due to the increase in demand of new Rs 500 notes stemming from the cash crunch. Read More

BMC Elections 2017: Voting in 227 seats begins

Voting in elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other 9 civic bodies in several cities of Maharashtra began on February 21.  In this election, about 2,275 candidates, which include 1,190 males, 1,084 females and one transgender, are in fray for the 227 seats. 13 political parties including Shiv Sena, MNS, NCP, Congress and BJP among others will contest in this civic body polls. The results of the BMC Elections 2017 will be announced on 23 February.
