Bihar’s latest prohibition rule: Bureaucrats, Judges could face dismissal if found drinking anywhere in the world

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may be going little overboard in his bid to enforce prohibition law. As per the latest amendment in the state service rules, the state officials could not consume liquor not only in the state but also anywhere in the world. Bihar cabinet has green-signalled an amendment to the state prohibition law that seeks to punish bureaucrats, judges or magistrates caught drinking anywhere in the world. Read more

Supreme Court gets five new judges, its total strength now stands at 28

Five Supreme Court Judges took oath on February 17, after their induction, now the total number of judges in the Supreme Court are 28 which is 3 less than the maximum number. The apex court can have as many as 31 judges. Supreme Court judges who took  oath are: Justice Sanjay Kishnan Kaul, Justice Mohan Shantanagoudar, Justice S A Nazeer, Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Deepak Gupta. Read more
