This Telangana Police Station Opens Creche For Women Officers' Kids

The Saroornagar Police Station in Telangana’s Rachakonda now has a crèche named 'We Care'.

Last month, a photo of woman police constable in Jhansi, Archana Jayant watching over her baby and working at the same time went viral. Though people on Twitter suggested for a crèche at police stations, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police IPS Mahesh Bhagwat took a step forward and set up one for the tiny tots of women cops at his police station.

The Saroornagar Police Station in Telangana’s Rachakonda now has a crèche named ‘We Care’. Bhagwat got the idea only after seeing the picture of a woman police personnel working with her baby on the desk.

“In order to have a work-life balance to the women police officers on duty, for the first time, we have started creche at Saroornagar women police station,” Bhagwat told ANI.

Crèche has all the facilities including playing equipment and a caretaker for the children. Woman cops will be allowed to visit their kids four times a day while performing their duties. With this initiative, Bhagwat has been brought up to ease up the working condition of women police officials.

The crèche will have one woman home guard, one woman constable, some outsourcing staff to take care.

“This creche is part of welfare measure and we are getting good feedback, right now we are having three to four babies. All safety and security is ensured,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner said.
