In case you are a resident of Haryana and it is becoming impossible for you to accommodate cow(s) because of space crunch or some other reason, then the Haryana Gau Sewa Aayog now has a solution. If everything goes as per the plan, soon the ‘cow hostels’ will be set up across the state, which will give the option to the owners to send their cows to the hostel.
The Haryana Gau Sewa Aayog, which is an autonomous body set up by the Haryana government in 2013, will soon send its proposal to the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to form”cow hostels” across the state. Initially, the Aayaog plans to set up ‘cow sheds’ or ‘cow hostel’ in one or two towns and will later extend it to the other parts of the state depending on the response it gets.
Bhani Ram Mangla, Aayog chairman said, “If all goes well, we will set up societies for the management of each cow hostel. These societies will work like Resident Welfare Associations”. He added that he has discussed the proposal with the state Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain. According to Mangla, the minister said, “first such cow hostel to come up in Sonipat, her assembly constituency”.

As per the plan, as many as 50 cows will be put up in each of the hostels and only indigenous cows will be admitted to the hostel and not the cross-bred ones. The Urban Local Bodies Department would have ownership over the land and the societies will have to pay rent to the department.
