E Palanisamy to be sworn in as Tamil Nadu CM at 4:30 pm today

The AIADMK leader Palanisamy will also have to prove vote of confidence in 15 days

After a week-long political drama in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK’s legislature party leader and close aide of VK Sasikala, Edappadi Palanisamy is set to form government in the state. The AIADMK leader will also have to prove vote of confidence in 15 days. Swearing ceremony will commence at 4: 30 PM at Raj Bhavan in Chennai today.

His appointment is in acceptance of  the”letter of submitted by Palanisamy on Tuesday that he was elected as the leader of the AIADMK legislature party at a meeting of the party MLAs held on that day,”  said a press note issued by Raj Bhavan.

Governor C, Vidyasagar Rao invited the 63-year-old leader who visited Raj Bhavan along with a few other legislators of Sasikala camp in the morning.

Palani has claimed that he has the required support of 124 MLAs to form the government while OPS camp has reportedly the support of only 10 MLAs.

Sasikala camp took to twitter to claim victory.

“Honourable Governor invites AIADMK’s legislature party leader Thiru.Edapadi K.Palanisamy.#Amma’s Victory.”

Tamil Nadu is witnessing a power tussle between Sasikala and O. Panneerselvam after the later revolted against her last week.

Sasikala’s dream to become chief minister of Tamil Nadu got a major jolt after supreme court convicted her is disproportionate assets case and sentenced her to four years in prison. However, his close aide, Palaniswami will form the government as he has the required support of 124 party MLAs.
