Ramjas violence: Kiren Rijiju stands by his remarks on Gurmehar Kaur, says don't create controversy over her

The Union Minister of States Kiren Rijiju said, "Gurmehar Kaur is a young girl, creating controversy over her is not right."

Amid the ongoing stir over the Ramjas violence incident, the Union Minister of States Kiren Rijiju has stood by his comments on Gurmehar Kaur despite being criticised. The Union Minister said, “Gurmehar Kaur is a young girl, creating controversy over her is not right. It’s about Leftists who celebrate when our jawans die.”

Rijiju further added, “During the war between India & China Leftist supported China. They are misleading the youth and it is not right.”

Kiren Rijiju came under attack after commenting on the Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur Facebook post. He was slammed by Gurmehar Kaur’s grandfather for his remarks. Lashing out at Rijiju’s comments, Gurmehar’s grandfather said, “I am saddened.”

On February 27, the Union Minister tweeted, “Who’s polluting this young girl’s mind? A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded.”

Gurmehar Kaur has created a massive stir as she came out to speak against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in the wake of the violence at Ramjas college of Delhi University. Gurmehar has alleged that she was threatened with rape after her social media campaign against the ABVP went viral.
