Rajasthan: Muslim man brutally assaulted for checking in with Hindu woman in hotel

25 year old identified as Padu Khan checked in hotel along with a middle-aged Hindu woman around 10 am on Thursday

A Muslim man was allegedly thrashed and stripped for being with a Hindu Rajput woman in a hotel in Barmer district’s Balotra area on Thursday.

25 year old identified as Padu Khan checked in the hotel along with a middle-aged woman around 10 am. The woman was wearing a traditional Rajasthani attire, according to hotel owner Multan Parihar. Shortly after woman’s relatives also arrived at the hotel and told the hotel owner that they will deal with the problem themselves.

Soon the relatives were soon joined by the members of Shiv Sena who dragged Khan out of the hotel and brutally assaulted him while chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’. While assaulting the man, the mob insisted that it was a case of love-Jihad. The owner also said that Khan would not have survived the assault if police would have delayed any further.

“They were chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and brutally assaulting him. Had police delayed any more, he could have been lynched,” he said. “While assaulting him, the mob said that it was a case of love-jihad,” The Indian Express quoted Parihar as saying.

The victim was rushed to hospital for primary treatment and later referred to Jodhpur.

“The Muslim man and the Hindu Rajput woman had checked into a hotel in Balotra, but soon after, the woman’s relatives arrived at the hotel and assaulted the man,” Barmer’s Additional Superintendent of Police (ADSP) Kailashdan Ratnoo told Indian Express.
