Rahul Gandhi is the de facto head of the Congress parliamentary party: Reports

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has reportedly turned the de facto head of the Congress parliamentary party in the absence of mother and the party chief Sonia Gandhi.

According to a leading news daily , Rahul Gandhi has been managing the congress Parliamentary party on his own and has also been making important decisions since Sonia Gandhi has been unwell for quite some time now.

Reports suggest that the party leaders had presumed Sonia Gandhi’s absence in the winter sessions a way to hand over charge to Rahul Gandhi. The Congress Vice President is also said to be chairing party meetings and coming up with strategies along with other Congress party leaders.

Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi was admitted to hospital Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital on Tuesday as she is reportedly suffering from viral fever.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala confirmed the news asserting that she was recovering under medical supervision but will have to be in the hospital for a few days.

This came nearly three months after she was admitted to Ganga Ram hospital where she was undergoing a treatment for dehydration and shoulder injury. The Congress Chief was discharged from the hospital after being admitted for over 11 days.

She had left the roadshow in Varanasi halfway after she had dislocated her left shoulder during the rally. She was first admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital but was later shifted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
