Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur Joins BJP

Dalbir Kaur was previously a part of Indian National Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Dalbir Kaur,  sister of Sarabjit Singh who was an Indian national convicted by Pakistani court in the charge of terrorism and spying, has reportedly joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 25.

Prior to this, Dalbir Kaur was a part of Indian National Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Pakistani court had charged Sarabjit Singh for being allegedly involved in a string of bomb attacks in the Punjab province of Pakistan that killed 14 people in 1990. He spent 23 years in Pakistani prisons.

Dalbir Kaur was allowed to meet his brother Sarabjit Singh only thrice in jail after which she vowed to get his brother released. Unfortunately she could not succeed.

According to the reports, Sarabjit’s family claimed that he was the victim of mistaken identity and was intentionally drifted across the border in an inebriated state.

In 1991 Singh was given the death sentence under Pakistan’s Army Act. However, his death sentence was postponed but he was not freed from the jail.
