Mamata Banerjee fumes over TMC MP arrest, says PM Modi doesn't understand politics

Terming it as Vendetta politics, Mamata Banerjee blamed PM Modi after TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested today in Chit fund scam.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 3 January responded lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and blamed the central government over the arrest of the TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay.

Mamata Banerjee slammed PM  Modi saying that he does not understand politics and he has purposely got TMC leader arrested because she protested against demonetisation drive.

She is all set to hold a emergency meeting with TMC MPs at party headquarter. The West Bengal Chief Minister said that the party will protest against the arrest outside the Reserve Bank of India in Kolkata on January 9.

She further went on to challenge the Prime Minister asserting that he cannot do anything and would be ultimately unsuccessful in suppressing the voice of the people.

Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested on 3 January in connection with the Rose Valley Ponzi scam.

This is the second TMC MP to be arrested in the Rose Valley case. While visiting the CBI office for questioning, Sudip had claimed that it was only vendetta politics and that he was ready to face interrogation with honesty.

This comes just days after Bengali film actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Paul was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after he reached the CBI office in North 24 Parganas on December 30.

Earlier this year, a charge sheet had been filed by the CBI against Rose Valley chairman Gautam Kundu and three other accused. The firm was charged with defrauding depositors from across the country of Rs 17,000 crore, out of which Rs 450 crore was received by the ponzi firm from Odisha alone.
