In a sudden turn of events, Samajwadi party supremo on 30 December expelled his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav from the party after he had released a parallel list of poll candidates.
Apart from Akhilesh, the SP chief also expelled his cousin and senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav over anti-party activities.
While the people across the state were aware of the crisis in the Samajwadi Party for the last few months, the reports of Mulayam Singh Yadav sacking Akhilesh jolted and sent shockwaves across the state with people not expecting the SP chief to go through with such a drastic move.
