BMC Elections 2017: Bollywood biggies like Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher will not vote. Here's why

The top guns of the Bollywood were seen casting their vote on February 21 but some of the biggies like Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan and Anupam Kher have given it a miss.

Voting for the 227 seats falls under Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is underway in Mumbai. Many known faces from Bollywood, including Anushka Sharma, Suniel Shetty, Zoya Akhtar and Rekha among others cast their votes polling which began at 7 am on February 21. Besides actors, leaders from various political parties exercised their franchise during the civic body polls.

But there are some big names from the Bollywood who will be giving this election a miss. Superstars like Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Javed Akhtar along with Shabana Azmi from the industry are away from it.

Anupam Kher, who has his say on everything has given BMC Elections a miss. Anupam is in Cape Town at present, and will not vote.

Rishi Kapoor, who is known for his no holds barred like comments on social media, giving a miss to BMC elections along with his actress wife Neetu Kapoor. The Bollywood’s idol couple is in Hong Kong, and will return to Mumbai on February 22, a day after the elections.

Bollywood’s very own Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan will not be casting his vote as well. Aamir, who has campaigned for voter awareness during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, is in abroad, preparing for his upcoming film, Thugs of Hindostan.

Priyanka Chopra who is holding Indian flag high globally is also giving BMC elections a miss in 2017. PC is in New York shooting for the second season of her TV show Quantico. She has often taken up civic issues. Back in 2014, PC took it upon herself to clean up a garbage-laden neighborhood in Mumbai as part of her efforts towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Clean India campaign.
