While the Congress and the SamajwadiParty giving a strong indication of an alliance ahead of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, people have already started coming up with posters showing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as Arjuna and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi as Krishna.
In the poster, you can Akhilesh Yadav in Arjun’s place holding a bow and arrow, while Rahul Gandhi leads the chariot. You can also see the Samajwadi Party’s cycle symbol on the poster. The poster also carries a slogan saying, “Vikas aur Vijay ki or chale do maharathi.” The poster was seen in various parts of the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
Just a day after Akhilesh Yadav was granted the Party symbol, Congress has given its clear indication of going hand in hand with Samajwadi Party, as an alliance in the upcoming assembly elections. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that both the parties will fight the upcoming state assembly election as an alliance. He said,”There will be a Congress and SP alliance in the upcoming UP elections. Details about it will be decided in coming days, for now, it can be said there will be Cong-SP alliance under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav.”
Soon after this announcement, Congress’ chief ministerial candidate Sheila Dixit said that he would like to quit as one alliance couldn’t have two faces for the supreme post. “I would like to gracefully withdraw as a chief minister candidate, as we cannot have 2 candidates for a single post in the elections.”
If the various media reports are to be believed, the deal has almost been sealed with SP offering 95 to 105 seats to Congress and latter have even given its agreement to it.
