PM Narendra Modi could face protest for unveiling 'illegal' Shiva Statue of Isha Yoga

The various organizations are planning protests across the city and especially on the route of the PM Modi's convoy.

The Madras High Court heard a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on February 17 against the clearance for 112 feet Lord Shiva statue by Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore. The statue of ‘Adiyogi’ Shiva is set to be unveiled on the occasion of Mahashivaratri on February 24.  A 112 feet bust of Lord Shiva will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Velliangiri Hills, Coimbatore.

Amidst the ongoing preparations, Srinivasan Kuppusamy, an activist who has challenged the construction of statue,has begun a petition “Modiji Please don’t attend the Sadhguru Jaggi’s function, destroyer of tribals and elephants” on Change.org. The PIL also states that, action against Coimbatore District Collector TN Hariharan for allowing such unauthorised constructions to come up on land falling within the ambit of the Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA).
