Oops! Omar Abdullah drags dead to taunt Mehbooba’s ‘dark’ governance

Omar Abdullah tweeted about late Mufti Sayeed to vent out his anger

At a time when Kashmir is facing major power-crises, former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is not even sparing the dead to take a dig at the Muftis. Omar not only lashed out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti but even dragged her father and predecessor late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to the issue.

Omar, who is also the working President of National Conference (NC), took to Twitter to vent out his feelings over poor power supply in the restive Valley.

Ridiculing Mehbooba, he said she was launching a new scheme in her dad’s memory and would give lanterns to every family.

“@MehboobaMufti launching the new Mufti Syed memorial light & heat scheme (to go with food scheme of same name). One lantern per family,” Omar tweeted. The tweet seemed to be a tit-for-tat as he pinned it to Mehbooba’s archival picture when she staged protests holding a lantern during Omar’s regime.

But then should we drag the dead to politics?

While the ruling PDP has taken the tweet as “demeaning”, the opposition NC says there’s nothing wrong in it.

Omar’s Political Secretary Tanvir Sadiq said the tweet is “absolutely in tune with PDP’s ideology.” “Mufti Sahib has been former CM and the founder of PDP. Mehbooba Ji’s every speech compulsorily begins and ends with reference to Mufti sahib ka sapna, so how can we say that this dark governance is not Mufti sahib ka sapna?” Sadiq told InUth.

He said that NC would continue bashing Mufti as she has “no identity of her own.” “She has nothing to show of her own and thus refers to Mufti. But with all due regards to him actually, he too had nothing to show.”
