“Where have you seen me speak even a word on riots. I was so depressed after the court’s verdict. I went into depression. I only, like any daughter of any family would have, went with my father”, Honeypreet was quoted as saying. She added that she had only gone to the court believing that things would be fine and was shocked after the court announced its verdict.

Honeypreet’s former husband Vishwas Gupta had earlier alleged that Ram Rahim had an illicit relationship with his ex-wife. He also claimed that Honeypreet was nor Ram Rahim’s “adopted daughter” and it was all a lie.

Refuting the allegations, Honeypreet said,

I do not understand how can someone question the holy relationship of a father and daughter. My main concern was the way the media projected me. How can they malign a father and daughter’s relationship? Can a father not keep his hands on his daughter? Can a daughter not love her father?

Meanwhile, she has maintained that Ram Rahim Singh was innocent and one person cannot be held guilty on basis of an anonymous letter. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping two of his women devotees.
