Mumbai girl busy on phone run over by train, escapes unhurt [Watch Video]

The 19 year old girl was taken to a hospital but was discharged soon without any major injuries

In a horrifying incident in Mumbai, a 19-year-old girl at Kurla station was caught on camera being hit by a goods train while crossing the railway track. She was reportedly talking on the phone while crossing the tracks when the passengers shouted and warned her about the train which was coming towards her at a high speed.

Seeing those on the platform shouting at her, the girl started running towards the platform. She ran but lost her consciousness midway and got hit by the train. The video shows how she was hit and subsequently run over by the train.

While it cannot be seen in the video whether she was talking on the phone or not, the passengers standing at the platform claim that she was on the phone when the incident happened. The incident was caught on CCTV camera installed at the platform.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials rushed to the site and took her to the hospital. Fortunately, she survived the hit and only a few minor injuries. She was released from the hospital on the same day. The incident took place on May 13.

A report in the Midday states that the girl Pratiksha Natekar, who belongs to Bhandup, had gone to meet a friend in Kurla. She was crossing the tracks to get to platform 7 when the incident took place. She reportedly had her headphones plugged in and was speaking to a friend over the phone while walking on the tracks.

A senior police inspector from Kurla Government Railway Police said that since she was busy over the phone, she didn’t hear the goods train coming on the track. “When she suddenly looked up the train had already reached her. She panicked and ran first towards the platform and then straight into the train,” he said while speaking to Mid-Day.
