MP Professor Touches Feet Of Students After They Called Him An ‘Anti-National’

The ABVP members called the professor an "anti-national". They also alleged that he stopped them from chanting nationalist slogans.

A video showing senior professor of a government college in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh running after some activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and touching their feet, has gone viral on social media.

According to a report in The Hindu, the professor bowed before the students and apologized to them after they called him an “anti-national.”

Professor Dinesh Gupta of GRGPG College was teaching his class when a group of ABVP activists entered his classroom on Wednesday and raised anti-administration slogans over the delay in announcement of fourth semester (science) results.

Asking them that their noise was disturbing the class, the professor asked protesters to lower their voice. This angered the protesting ABVP members who called the professor an “anti-national” and threatened him with a police case.

They also alleged that professor stopped them from chanting “Vande Mataram”

This scared the professor so much that he started touching feet of the protesting students and apologized. In the video, the students can be seen running away from the teacher while the professor can be seen touching feet of students randomly.

“Dr Gupta is a senior professor, who has written 10-15 books. He is a heart and blood pressure patient, and such an incident shouldn’t have happened,” college’s principal Dr Ravindra Kumar Sohoni was quoted saying in a report published in The New Indian Express.

The professor has gone on leave after the video of his act went viral.
