Moral policing strikes again! Man forced to apologise for hugging and proposing to girlfriend in public

In yet another incident of moral policing, a couple was forced to apologise after the man proposed to his girlfriend in public

A traditional proposal turned into a nightmare for a young couple after religious groups asked the man to apologise for proposing to his girlfriend and then hugging her in public. In a video that has gone viral on social media, a man can be seen going down on his knees and proposing to his girlfriend with a ring and then stood up to hug her in the middle of the street as the crowd cheered them.

However, the gesture has not gone down too well with some of the religious groups after they asked the boy to apologise for violating “religious norms”. According to media reports, they even had to leave the city after they allegedly received threats post the incident.

National Lokhind Party (NLP)and Raza Academy affirmed that the couple should apologise and claimed that the act went “against the religion”.

Here’s the video:

After the incident that took place in Bhiwandi area of Mumbai, the boy came forward to apologise and took the responsibility for the entire episode while adding that it was completely his fault and that no one else should be blamed for it. He further affirmed that the girl was his fiancee and both their parents were aware of their relationship. “The girl’s parents and my parents are completely aware of our relationship and have also given their approval for their marriage. I accept my fault and I assure you that it will never happen again. Please forgive me this time if some like this happened again, you can punish me as you please. If don’t punish my friends, family, the girl’s family and the girl for my mistake,” he said in the video.
